Jeff was raised in Otterville, MO, and is a graduate of Otterville R-VI School. He began working for Heckart right out of high school. He is a 2003 graduate of the Kansas City Kansas Community College School of Mortuary Science. He also attended Northwest Missouri State University for business management.

Jeff is married to Megan, and they have two sons, Jonah and Jude. They are members of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Jeff is president of the I.O.O.F. Cemetery Association and serves on the Pettis County Law Enforcement Restitution Fund Board.

He is a Certified Funeral Celebrant, Life Tribute Professional, and is equipped to plan, design and conduct a unique and personalized ceremony that is built on the stories of your loved one’s life. He is the only celebrant in the Mid-Missouri area.

Jeff is also a Certified Pet Loss Professional, trained in assisting families in the loss of a beloved pet.

Megan was raised in Marshall, MO and is a graduate of Marshall High School. She is married to Jeff and they have two children, Jonah and Jude. She is very active in the community and serves on the Boys & Girls Club of West Central Missouri Board of Directors, Pettis County Probation and Parole Citizens Advisory Board, Strong Tower Orphanage Board of Directors, and is a member of the Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce and the Sedalia Young Professionals. Megan also sings on the praise team at Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Chris was raised in Windsor and is a graduate of Windsor High School. He began working at his hometown funeral home at age 13 and quickly decided he wanted to dedicate his life to helping people through the funeral profession. He is a 2007 graduate of the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science.

He is married to Allison and they have three children: Carson, Aubrey and Kenzie. They are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

Sue Heckart - Heckart Funeral Home

Sue Heckart

Sue was born in Topeka, Kansas, and moved to Sedalia with her parents, Del and Stella Heckart, to operate the family business when she was nine years old. After graduating from Smith-Cotton High School, she received a B.S. degree in Economics from Missouri Valley College in Marshall. She attended the National Foundation of Funeral Service School of Management in Evanston, IL and then graduated from the University of Kansas Department of Mortuary Science.

Sue is a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, where she was a deacon and elder. She is a former chairman of the Missouri State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors, serving as a member from 1987-1993. She is a member of the Helen G. Steele Music Club and the Osage Chapter of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution where she served as Regent.

As the chairman of the Heckart Family Foundation, Sue undertakes many philanthropic endeavors in Sedalia and surrounding communities.

Sue is a dog lover and has two show dog Lowchens named Bomber and Elliott. Her dogs have been exhibited across the United States, winning multiple national championships. She has an additional Lowchen, Parker, who is her faithful companion at home. She is also an avid Royals and Chiefs fan.

As a Certified Pet Loss Professional, Sue has been trained in assisting families in the loss of a beloved pet.

Donna Plummer - Heckart Staff

Donna Plummer

Donna was raised in northeastern Pettis County and was a graduate of Smithton High School. She joined the Heckart family in January 2020 bringing with her over 10 years experience as a funeral director and she also has experience in the banking industry.

Donna is the mother of an adult daughter, Cassie, who resides in Lee’s Summit. She is a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sedalia and currently serves as Recording Secretary for the Church Council and Voters Assembly.

Jerry Page

•Funeral Assistant

Jerry is a lifelong Otterville resident. He began working for Heckart part-time after his retirement from MFA Oil Company, previously known as Bixler Gas Company. He assists on many funerals and also does maintenance work around the funeral home.

He and his wife, Cheryl, are members of First Baptist Church in Otterville. They have three children, Cheri, Julie and Jeff; and six grandchildren, Ali, Evan, Emily, Mason, Jonah and Jude.

In his spare time, he enjoys gardening and competitive barbecuing.

Jim Schoen

•Funeral Assistant

Jim has helped at Heckart for several years, but officially joined the staff in April 2014. Jim proudly served his country three years in the United States Marine Corps. He is married to Lisa and has two children, Aaron and Alyssa, and is a member of First Baptist Church. He primarily runs the PALS business and assists in all areas at the funeral home.

Ron joined the Heckart staff in August 2017 when we acquired Ewing Funeral Home. He is married to Marsha and they have three children. They are active members of First Baptist Church.
