Virginia Martin
Lillian Virginia Martin, 90, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at E.W. Thompson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born August 21, 1932 in Sedalia, a daughter of Jesse Earl and Georgia Vera (Bohon) Fairfax. On November 11, 1952 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church she married Jesse Henry Martin who preceded her in death on September 21, 2019.
Virginia was a graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sedalia and the Pettis County Extension Club. Virginia was a hard worker, working at Town & Country Shoe Factory and also working right along side her husband at their farm. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and quilting.
Survivors include one son, John Martin (Ann) of Sedalia, MO; one daughter, Sue Martin of Sedalia, MO; seven grandchildren, Allie Martin, Max Martin (Maddie), Lauren Martin, Jenna Rehmer (Nathan), Jessica Raffensburger (Kagen), Jillean Watts, and Jamie Martin; nine great-grandchildren, and one brother, George Fairfax (Peggy) of Sedalia and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to both of her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse Fairfax, Jr., and Emmett Fairfax; two sister-in-laws, Nancy Fairfax and Alice Fairfax.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June, 26, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul St. Patrick Chapel in Sedalia. A Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pallbearers will be Tom Fairfax, Jim Fairfax, Andy Fairfax, Joe Fairfax, Rick Sudduth, and Dennis McFarland. Burial will be held at Highland Sacred Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. Vincent de Paul St. Patrick Chapel. Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.
