Steven G. Schilb

Steven Glenn Schilb, 66, of Sedalia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 27, 2019.

He was born August 15, 1952, in Sedalia, son of Billy G. and Anna M. (Meyer) Schilb.

Steve was a 1970 graduate of Otterville High School and then attended Central Missouri State University, from where he earned a Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Secondary Social Studies certification and a Masters in Secondary Education School Administration.

He started his career with the Missouri Pacific Railroad, then continued as a photographer, and later he became a beloved teacher in the Sedalia 200 School District. He taught history and constitutional law for 17 years before his retirement, but Mr. Schilb did more than teach; he believed in, inspired and shaped countless young people to become their best. Steve was committed to and loved “his kids,” the students of Sedalia. His motto, which he shared and lived each day, was reflected in his life, ministry, and career: “It’s never too late to do the right thing. After retiring, Steve served on the Sedalia 200 Board of Education.

Steve was a born-again Christian and dedicated his life to sharing the love of Jesus with others. He was a member of Camp Branch Baptist Church and had served as the chaplain at Winchester Meadows for several years. Steve would tell you it was his faith that carried him through life and gave him the ability to bless others.
