Steve Jackie Bridges

Steve Jackie Bridges, 72, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at North Kansas City Hospital.

He was born January 20, 1948, in Sedalia, a son of the late Steve H. and Sylvia Marie (Phelps) Sanchez, Jr.

He was raised in Sedalia. He served his country honorably in the US Army 1965-1968 during the VietNam War receiving the National Defense Service Medal and qualified as a Sharpshooter. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Missouri State University (now UCM). He owned and operated Construction Systems Group (CSG) in Kansas City, retiring in 2005.

In his younger years, he obtained his pilot’s license and enjoyed that part of his life. He also enjoyed rebuilding classic cars.

Survivors include two children, Stephen Bridges, and Lauretta Richtermeyer, both of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Chris Semkin (Suann), of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Linda Cairer (John), of Oak Grove, and Cindee Vaughan (Tim), of Harper, TX; and a grandson, Aiden Bridges, of Columbia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Marie “Rita” Warren, and an uncle, Edgar Lee Phelps, Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Saturday, February 1, 2020, at St. Patrick Church in Sedalia, with Father Dave Viet officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the US Army, VFW Post 2591 and the Patriot Guard Riders.

Visitation will take place from 10 am until time of service at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
