Shirley Mae Dick, 83, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at E.W. Thompson Health & Rehab.
She was born May 18, 1943, in Sedalia, the daughter of the late Leonard Charles and Rosemary (Cole) Goss. On June 3, 1961, in Sedalia, she married Frank Dick, who survives of the home.
Shirley was a 1960 graduate of Sacred Heart High School. Early in her career, she worked as a bookkeeper for Shirley Wagner Accounting. When her children were young, she devoted herself to being a homemaker and became the family’s original “soccer mom,” making sure all three of her children got to their sporting events and school activities.
Throughout the years, Shirley also worked at Brant’s Nursery, which later became Forest Park Lawn & Garden, Payless Cashways, and the Center for Human Services. She also clerked auctions. Her favorite job, however, was working in the family business, Dick’s Corn Dogs, a concession trailer where she spent 44 years. She proudly held the distinction of being the last of the “Corn Dog Queens.”
Shirley was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and attended Sacred Heart Chapel. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Shirley and Frank enjoyed playing co-ed volleyball together for 20 years. She had a love for antiques and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to her husband, Frank, survivors include three children, Greg Dick (Juleen Shane), of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Brian Dick (Ginger), of Sedalia; and Dana Braby (Tony), of California, Missouri; a sister, Joan Smasal, of Sedalia; a brother-in-law, Leo Dick, of Sedalia; five grandchildren, Jacob Shane, Allison Dick, Zachary Dick, Abby Braby, and Emma Braby; and one great-granddaughter, Lydia.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by three siblings: Delores Maples, James Goss, and Richard Goss.
