Robert J. “Bob” Karbinas

Robert John Karbinas, 82, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

He was born February 2, 1941, in Clarence, PA, a son of the late Joseph J. and Irene (Ebert) Karbinas. On October 15, 1965, in Hughesville, he married Waunita J. (Wheeler), who survives of the home.

Bob served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He was a journeyman iron worker and a member of Union Local 10, and a farmer.

Bob was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a Mason and a Shriner, and was involved in the Shriners FunKor. He was also involved in P.H.A.R.M. Dog USA, a program for disabled farmers.

He enjoyed hunting, taking care of his cattle, and tinkering with welding. He loved working on the farm with his grandkids. Bob loved his family and his dog.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, Waunita, Bob is survived by two children, Roberta Brewer, of Terre Haute, IN and Steven Karbinas (Crystalle), of Laurie; daughter-in-law, Linda Karbinas, of California, MO; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six bonus great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Rosie Fry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mabel; daughter, Stacey Marie Karbinas, who died in 1974; a son Robert John Karbinas II, who died in 2001; son-in-law, Thomas Brewer; a grandson, Keith Staus; and step-brother, Jack Fry.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church, with Rev. Jonathan Wallenbeck officiating.

Pallbearers will be Nick Staus, Matt Karbinas, Andrew Karbinas, Steven Karbinas, Johnny Staus and Amanda Karbinas. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Coffman, Brandon Coffman and Cameron Karbinas.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military honors by VFW Post 2591 and the U.S. Air Force.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church or P.H.A.R.M. Dog USA, in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
