Richard Daniel “Rick” Bain, Sr., 67, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026, at his home. One of his greatest wishes was fulfilled as he was reunited with his brothers.
Rick was born January 9, 1959, in Sedalia, the son of the late George Ross Bain, Sr. and Betty Ruth (Lutjen) Bain.
He worked for 30 years alongside his brothers at Inter-State Studios. Rick was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching wrestling and Kansas City Chiefs games with his sons and often relaxed with a beer while watching sports on television. His interests included barbecue, deer hunting, fishing, golf, and softball, and he took pride in coaching his boys when they were young. He was a fan of classic rock and loved a good guitar solo.
Rick was a simple man with a big heart. He loved deeply, had a strong faith in the Lord, and would help anyone in need. He enjoyed mowing yards and found his greatest joy in spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He also had a fondness for scratcher lottery tickets, always promising to share any winnings with whoever was with him at the time, and he never passed up a sweet treat.
Survivors include his two sons, Ricky Bain, Jr. (Laura) and Daniel Bain, all of Sedalia; two sisters, Debbie Lamb (Steven) of Sedalia and Beth Thompson (Arthur) of Otterville; and two grandchildren, Jiren Bain and Jayla Bain.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beticia Asbury and Katrina Thompson; and two brothers, George Bain, Jr. and Rusty Bain.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family with checks payable to Ricky Bain, Jr. in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
