Pearl Catherine Hayes, 86, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025, at her home.
She was born August 11, 1939, in Pettis County, daughter of Raymond and Martha (Allcorn) Ditzfeld.
On May 29, 1965, in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to James “Wayne” Hayes, who preceded her in death on September 14, 2007.
Pearl was a 1957 graduate of Sweet Springs High School. She worked for 34 years for Pettis County ASCS. She later worked for ACE Personnel, Pittsburgh Corning Credit Union, Hayes Mechanic Services, and Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was a longtime member of Goodwill Chapel Church, and a past member of the Moose Lodge, where she was senior regent.
Her hobbies included tending her flowers, traveling, crafts, cooking, baking, and spending time with family, with whom she enjoyed card parties and fish frys.
Surviving are two daughters, Catherine Hemme (Larry), and Carla Hughes; her grandson, James Hamilton (Erin Pfeiffer); a brother, Ray Ditzfeld (Phyllis); a sister, Marilyn Thomas (Ray); two great-grandchildren, Hadley Gottschalk and Preston Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Robert Hughes.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Heckart Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials are suggested to Goodwill Chapel Church.
