Orin A. Kaden

Orin August Kaden, 88, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

He was born October 24, 1932, in Benton County, a son of the late George Arthur and Maggie Katherine (Balke) Kaden. On November 13, 1932, he was baptized, and on June 2, 1946, he was confirmed, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Cole Camp. On July 21, 1963, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, he married Laveda Christine Kaiser, who preceded him in death on April 11, 1996.

Orin grew up on the family farm near Cole Camp. He served his country honorably in the US Army 1953-1955. In his early years, he worked at National Engineering. He then took a job with Rival Manufacturing, retiring after 30 years as the Plant Superintendent.

He was an active and faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed gardening and fished every chance he had.

Survivors include a son, Eddie L. Kaden, of Blue Springs; a daughter, Loretta L. Smith (Todd), of Desloge; a step-grandson, Tyler Smith (Page); and a step-great-grandson, Waylen; a nephew, Johnny Ehlers, of Cole Camp; and a niece, Judy Guier, of Blue Springs.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Emil Kaden, Elrine Kaden, Adeline Ehlers, Ervin Kaden and Loren Kaden; and a niece, Marcia Kaden.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3700 W. Broadway, Sedalia with Rev. Andrew Tessone officiating. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Heisterberg, Leslie Heisterberg, Melvin Garrett, Dudley Kaiser, Brian Kaiser and Roy Guier. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Ehlers and Kevin Kaiser.

Burial will follow in Highland Sacred Gardens with full military honors.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
