Norma Jean Hill, 90, of Sedalia, passed into her eternal rest on Monday, May 2 2022, at E.W. Thompson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on June 4, 1931 in Jefferson City, Missouri, a daughter of Millard Lee Eaton and Sammie Laurene (Rogers) Brown, who preceded her in death.

She was a 1949 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School and a member of First Baptist Church.

On July 30, 1949, in Sedalia, she married the love of her life, William Henry Hill, Jr., who preceded her in death on January 31, 2005. They had four children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She worked as a waitress at Garst’s Drive-In while in high school.

She was a devoted housewife, and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved nothing more than caring for her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She loved all children, and babysat in her home for many over the years who lovingly called her “Grandma Norma.”

She enjoyed walking, gardening, cooking, watching soap operas, and attending her children’s sporting events.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Foster (Larry) of Sedalia, and Rebecca Hill of Lee’s Summit; a son, Bill Hill (Tara) of Wyomissing, PA; three grandsons, John Foster of Sedalia, Shawn Foster (Heather) of Lee’s Summit, and Will Hill of Wyomissing, PA; two granddaughters, Meredith Hill and Claire Hill, both of Wyomissing, PA; two great-granddaughters, Olivia Foster and Jillian Foster, both of Lee’s Summit; two sisters, Nancy Smith of Sedalia,  and Linda Alfred of Houma, LA; one sister-in-law, Clara Eaton of Wardsville, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Richard Hill, of Sedalia; two brothers, Chris Brown of Sedalia, and M.L. Eaton of Jefferson City, MO; and two sisters, Patsy Suits of St. Albans, WV and Christine Luetkemeyer of McGirk, MO.

A celebration of Norma’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 9, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, with Pastor Donald T. Satterwhite officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday evening, May 8 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bill Hill, John Foster, Shawn Foster, and Scott Smith.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Children’s Therapy Center or a charitable organization of your choice.
