Nellie A. McConnell

Nellie Arlene McConnell, 99, of Sedalia, formerly of Independence, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026, at her home at the Primrose Retirement Community.

She was born November 26, 1926, in Athens, Missouri, the daughter of Perry and Esther (Keck) Cochrane.

On August 17, 1946, in Kansas City, she was married to William McConnell, who preceded her in death on August 20, 2014.

Nellie was a devoted homemaker who took pride in her family and home. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, painting, gardening, working with stained glass, woodworking alongside her husband, and traveling. She was a former member of the Eastern Star in Kansas City.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Goodwillie and Linda Thomas; and grandchildren: Mark Johnson, Michael Knight, Ryan Johnson, Jenny Miller, Ann Brady, and Tim Goodwillie.

No services are planned. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
