Muriel Anne Jackson

Muriel Anne Jackson, 80, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Rest Haven Health Center.

She was born November 23, 1944, in St. Joseph, daughter of the late Annie Laurie Elliston.

Muriel worked as a respiratory therapist for 30 years and was devoted to caring for others. She was a loving mother to three boys and a woman of strong faith, reading her Bible and devotionals daily.

She enjoyed watching horse racing on TV, spending time outdoors, and especially loved the companionship of her dog, Benny.

Surviving are her three sons, John Surface, Jr. (Carmen), of Florence, CO, Joel Todd Surface (Heather), of Columbia, and Justin Elliot Surface (Kathi), of Sedalia; one stepson; two stepdaughters; a sister, Iva Lois Patton (John), of Kansas; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; and one step-great-granddaughter.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her companion, Sam Jackson; a daughter, Lori Anne Surface; a grandson, Jared Todd Surface; and a brother, Billy Joe Gilkey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Hopewell Baptist Church.
