Michael P. Hartman

August 13, 1957 — May 4, 2025

Springfield

Michael P. “Mike” Hartman, 67, of Springfield, MO, formerly of Sedalia, passed away at his home Sunday 4, 2025.

He was born August 13, 1957, in Clinton, IA, son of the late Gary Hartman and John Kay (Elsenwrath) Simon. On December 23, 1997, in Sedalia, he married Donna Pitts, who survives of the home.

Mike was raised in Sedalia and attended Smith Cotton High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1975-1979.

His professional life was diverse and reflected his various passions. He contributed to the Sedalia Parks Department and Septagon Industries before pursuing his keen interest in motorcycles. Mike achieved certification as a Master motorcycle mechanic and lent his expertise to Lake of the Ozarks Harley Davidson and later at Denny’s Harley Davidson in Springfield. Prior to retirement in 2024, Mike was a truck driver for Ditzfeld Transfer.

Beyond his work, Mike found pleasure in a variety of hobbies. He enjoyed the quiet concentration of working on jigsaw puzzles, the satisfaction of working on motorcycles, and above all, cherishing moments spent with his beloved grandchildren. He was also a fan of classic movies and, in more recent times, discovered a new pastime in building model cars.

Mike will be fondly remembered for his carefree attitude. He was a man of directness and a firm believer in common sense. Beneath his no-nonsense exterior lay a big heart, and he was known to be a good friend and a devoted family man.

In addition to his wife, Donna, survivors include his four children, Crystal Anderson, of Kansas City, MO, Paige Krueger, of Kenly, NC, Shelby Hartman, of Jefferson City, and Jake Hartman, of Oklahoma City, OK; four siblings, Debby Manley, of Sedalia, Nancy (Dan) Pryor, of Concho, AZ, Valerie Ream, of Sedalia, and Stanley (Revia) Simon, of Hot Springs, AR; eight grandchildren, Jalynne, Kailee, Anayah, Tyler, Olivia, Ashton, Adelea and Maxlynn; and one great-grandson, Jru.
