Marilyn Leola (McGinley) Peterman, 82, of Kansas City, formally of Sedalia, passed away peacefully on the evening of February 19, 2026.
Marilyn was born March 6, 1943, in Maryville, Missouri, daughter of William Victor and Flossie Berniece (Phillips) McGinley. On March 28, 1964, in Stanberry, Missouri, she married Thomas L. Peterman and together they enjoyed 38 years of marriage.
Mrs. Peterman was a member of First Baptist Church in Sedalia, where she taught Youth and Sunday School classes. Together she and Tom chaperoned many youth mission trips and activities.
Marilyn was a devoted homemaker before working as a Secretary for Sedalia #200 School District Special Education Department. She dedicated 21 years before retiring in 2005.
Mrs. Peterman lived in Sedalia, Missouri for 27 years before moving to Kansas City to be closer to family.
Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Bartlett (Eric); three granddaughters Audrey, Macy and Josie all of Liberty, Missouri; and a son, Tim Peterman of Kansas City, Missouri.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Tom; parents and three brothers, Lloyd McGinley, Phillip McGinley and Vernon McGinley.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. until service time on Monday, February 23, 2026, at the Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Ascend Health Hospice Care in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
