Luther Harris Jordan, 86, of Warsaw, MO, formerly of Sedalia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Bothwell Regional Health Center after a brief illness.

He was born August 11, 1937, in Miami (Saline County), MO, son of Noah Andrew and Marie (Harvey) Jordan, who preceded him in death.

Luther graduated from Smith-Cotton High School, Class of 1955. 

On October 22, 1959, he was married to Rosalee Alexander at La Monte Christian Church, La Monte, MO.

Luther could best be described as an entrepreneur in the trucking business, beginning with purchasing trucks while still in high school. The range of trucking business included farm products, lime, fertilizer, sand, gravel, rip rap, asphalt, and freight. He owned trucking companies in central Missouri and in Kansas City.

In 1970 Luther served as the first president of the Missouri Dump Truck Association and continued to serve on the MDTA Board of Directors until 1977.

His most recent enterprise was as owner of Movin’ On Pilot Cars, LLC., based in Warsaw, Missouri.

Luther’s hobbies included playing guitars, gospel singing, and deer hunting.

He is survived by three children: Wes Jordan (Patty) of Shawnee, KS, Christa Harlow (Mark), Vicenza, Italy, and Peggy Zaret (Adam) of Mansfield, MA. Luther is survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also, he is survived by one sister, Evelyn Yonce of Sedalia along with beloved nieces and nephews. Luther was predeceased by his brother, David E. Jordan, and two nephews, John Matthew Romano (Steele) and Chad Yonce .

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, led by Pastor Richard DeFord.  Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time.  Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia.

Pall Bearers will be Mark, Ben and Luke Harlow, Brent Jordan, Ed Romano, James David Steele, Roy Steele, and Cayle Yonce.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be Joy Duffe, Bob Ellerman, David Kaiser, Jim Keener, Jim Metscher, Glen Muller, David Quarrier, and Claude Weaver.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Rise Up Prison Ministry, an organization dedicated to sharing the love of Christ of individuals behind bars, in honor of Luther’s compassionate spirit and commitment to serving others.  Contributions can be given at https://riseupprisonministry.com/ and may also be made in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
