Lorraine J. Jackson

Lorraine June Jackson, 94, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, May 24, 2021, at EW Thompson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born June 22, 1926, in Hebron, NE, daughter of Walter and Helen Olson. The family moved to Missouri when Lorraine was nine. She graduated from Hughesville High School in 1943.

On June 1, 1945, she married Price Jackson. They enjoyed 68 years together before Price’s passing.

After graduation, Lorraine worked at System Mills, Taylor-Wagner Co. and served as Pettis County Collector. She opened a successful business in 1976, Lorraine Jackson Accounting, which she operated until age 88. Additionally, she was the State of Missouri fee agent for twelve years.

She always had time to be a good listener to personal, business and financial matters.

Lorraine enjoyed volunteer work as long as she was able. She was a leader of: Girl Scout Troop 303, Boy Scout Den Mother Troop 54, Bethel Church Bible School, Smelser 4-H Club, PTA at Heber Hunt, Middle School and Smith-Cotton, Sedalia Chamber of Commerce (Military Affairs Committee), and a Good-Will Ambassador.

She was an officer and treasurer for: Bethel United Methodist Church, Northwest Pettis Parish, Pettis County Republican Committee, Pachyderm Club, T.A.R.G.E.T., Republican Women, American Red Cross Volunteers, Sedalia Business Women, Sedalia Senior Center, Flat Creek FCE Club and Hughesville Northwest Reunions.

Surviving are a daughter, Carla Young (Gary) of Sedalia; son, Jeff Jackson (Carla) of Sedalia; grandchildren, Christopher Young of Pleasant Hill, Matt Young (Amanda) of Columbia, and Jennifer Jackson of Sedalia; 2 great-grandchildren, Alaina and Cole Young; sisters, Jackie Butler (Leonard) of Sedalia, Alyce Miller of Sedalia, and LaDonna Nelson (Howard) of Beaumont, CA; brothers, Wendell Olson (Myrna) of Concordia, Larry Olson of Warrensburg, and Jerry Olson of Alma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister, Lucille Hartz.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 22150 Smelser Road, Hughesville, MO, with Pastor Wesley Wingfield officiating. A meal will be served by the Church immediately following the funeral, after which burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family would like to thank the church for their love and support.

Pallbearers will be Chris Young, Matt Young, Jennifer Jackson, Wendell Olson, Jerry Olson, and Larry Olson.

Honorary pallbearers are LaDonna Nelson, Alyce Miller, Jackie Butler, Howard Nelson, Leonard Butler, Myrna Olson and members of Bethel United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Heckart Funeral Home.
