Leonel Francis Schlobohm, 97, of Kansas City, formerly of Smithton, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 at The Oxford Grand Assisted Living.

He was born December 15, 1926, in Smithton, a son of the late Lewis A. and Nellie (Weichen) Schlobohm. On April 23, 1949, he married Glenna D. Martin, and they had three children, Cherrick, Peggy and Donna. Glenna preceded him in death on June 7, 1995. On June 10, 1996, he married Dorothy Buchanan and welcomed her family as his own. Dorothy preceded him in death on December 17, 2021. On September 2, 2023, he married Rose Mary Allen, and the family circle widened again as he welcomed her family as his own.

He was stationed in Arkansas when he finished his military service, married Glenna and worked as a milkman. In 1954, they moved to Kansas City and he continued delivering milk for a year. In 1966, he left the railroad and established his own home construction and remodeling business. He was a longtime member of Birmingham Baptist Church (now Birmingham Community Church). In his younger years, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and helped with Vacation Bible School. He loved reading the Bible and was a Gideon. Leonel was a people person. He loved meeting people and getting them engaged at church and the retirement community. He loved his family. As the blended family grew, he made everyone feel loved and accepted. Leonel enjoyed playing Farkle, music, and especially spending time with the grandkids and taking them for walks by the river. He loved vacationing in Branson and cruising on the Branson Belle. He enjoyed several trips to Hawaii and cruise ship excursions.

Survivors includes his wife, Rose Mary, his three children, Cherrick Schlobohm, of Independence, Peggy Johnston (Richard) and Donna Bockover (Rick), all of Kansas City, MO; and many stepchildren; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
