Sedalia

Larry L. Knowles, 89, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, at Rest Haven Retirement Home.

He was born March 11, 1937, in Mishawaka, Indiana, the son of Chesley and Naomi (Price) Knowles.

On June 3, 1962, in Sedalia, he married Carolyn Thomas. Together they shared 64 years of marriage and were blessed with two sons.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, four years active and two years inactive. He was a member of the 40 & 8 and Friends of Boonslick Library.

A hardworking and entrepreneurial man, Larry began his career with Central Communications and Motorola before eventually becoming the owner of the business. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.

Larry enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, and building things. A skilled carpenter, he was happiest when creating, repairing, or improving something with his hands. He had a generous spirit, loved people, and was always willing to lend a helping hand or share his knowledge with others. His faith was the foundation of his life. He loved God, was active in his church, and served faithfully as a deacon at Faith Baptist Church, where he was a mentor and friend to many.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Knowles, of the home; two sons, Rick Knowles (Maria), of Kansas City, and Mark Knowles (Nancy), of Nelson; and four grandchildren, Max, Kelly, Joseph, and John.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia Caruthers.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Faith Baptist Church, with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m.

Burial with military honors will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
