Lanty Ray McGaugh

Lanty Ray McGaugh, 63, of Sedalia, passed away, Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at University Hospital in Columbia, MO. 

He was born on March 7, 1960, in Otterville, MO, a son of Charles Everett McGaugh, Jr. and Lydia Louise Furnell.  On October 20, 2000, he married Kathleen Gardiner Bennett in Dewey, OK.  

Lanty was a 1978 graduate of Bartlesville High School in Bartlesville, OK.  He was a jack of all trades and worked construction for Dillard’s for many years.   He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sedalia.  Lanty enjoyed many things from feeding and photographing wild animals at his home to woodworking, sport shooting, and collecting muscle car models.   He loved music and singing karaoke.   Lanty made many friends from the years he spent being the DJ at Cruisers in Sedalia.  

Survivors include his wife Kathleen of 23 years; two children, Celine Sanders (Barry) of Sedalia, Shannon McGaugh (Traves Fogg) of Eldon; three stepchildren, Jessica Bennett of Sedalia, Gary S. Bennett, Jr. (Reita) of Sedalia, Kimberly Bennett of O’Fallon, IL; one sister, Susan E. Nupp (Perry) of Sedalia; six grandchildren, Chloe, Jacob, Cordelia, Maria, Kylo, Elias, and many cousins.  

Lanty was preceded in death by both of his parents.

Arrangements are pending at this time.  Inurnment will be held later at Crown Hill Cemetery.   Memorial contributions are suggested to Lanty's family and may be made out to Kathleen McGaugh and left in the care of Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.
