Kenneth Hugh Neill, 103, of Cameron, MO, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cameron.
Hugh was born on January 23, 1922, in Hamilton, MO, a son of Mike and Gertrude (Cates) Neill.
Hugh proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1942 until 1945 during World War II. He was stationed in the Pacific Theater and served with the 24th Reconnaissance Unit, where he demonstrated dedication, courage, and a deep sense of duty to his nation.
On February 14, 1945, in Sedalia, Missouri, Hugh was united in marriage to the love of his life, Helen L. Goddard. Their marriage was one built on devotion and companionship until her passing on September 15, 1993.
Hugh spent many years working for the Mid-Continent Wholesale Company, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church and had also been an active member of American Legion Post 16, maintaining strong ties with his fellow veterans.
In his free time, Hugh found great joy in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, took pride in working in his yard, and was an avid reader who loved spending quiet moments with a good book. Hugh lived a simple, meaningful life grounded in faith, service, and appreciation for life’s everyday pleasures.
Hugh will be remembered for his patriotism, dedication to family and work, and the steady presence he offered to those who knew him.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth H. Neill, Jr. (Kathleen) and Barry K. Neill (Shyrle) all of Portland, OR; two grandchildren, Michael Neill, and Kelli Heffron (Randy); one great-granddaughter, Amy Neill.
In addition to both of his parents and his wife Hugh was preceded in death by three brothers, Clifford M. Neill, Lyle D. Neill, and Lloyd C. Neill; and one sister, Clarice C. Adams.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Memorial Park Cemetery.
