Karen Lea Holman, 83, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025, at Rest Haven Retirement Home.
She was born February 16, 1942, in Kansas City, KS, daughter of George A. Jr. and Eleanor H. (Olson) Schlosser.
On June 16, 1962, she was married to Loy Holman, and this union was blessed with two children, Curt and Christy.
Karen was a 1960 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, where she was Archives Queen, a varsity cheerleader, and a member of the Latin Club and National Honor Society. She worked in civil service at Whiteman Air Force Base before becoming a stay-at-home mom while her children were young. Later she helped at the State Fair Twin Cinemas, was a teller at Third National Bank, and worked for Prudential and Medifax. Karen was a talented seamstress and quilter. She and Loy were charter members of the Walnut Hills Country Club. She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church.
Surviving are a son, Curt Holman, of Sedalia; a daughter, Christy Fernando (Joe), of Foster City, CA; her former husband, Loy Holman, of Sedalia; three grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jordan, and Andrew; and her granddog, Hans Von Schlosser.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, George A. Schlosser, III; and a sister, Barbara Rice.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Highland Park Cemetery, 4101 State Avenue, Kansas City, KS.
