Julia Ann (Barklage) Skinner, 23, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, formerly of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at her home.
She was born October 28, 2002, in Sedalia, the daughter of Douglas W. Barklage and Jamie L. Adams. On April 16, 2025, in Brick, New Jersey, she was united in marriage to Sean T. Skinner.
Julia attended Sacred Heart School through her junior year and graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 2021. During her school years, she was involved in volleyball, the dance team, CTC, and the J.A.G. program.
Julia had a vibrant personality and loved connecting with others. She enjoyed listening to music, doing her makeup, dressing up in cute outfits, and writing in her journals. She was very artistic, photogenic, and always had a smile and a laugh ready to share. As a child, she enjoyed gymnastics. Family was deeply important to her, and she loved simple joys like Dunkin’ coffee, a Sonic drink, and going for a car ride. Headstrong and expressive, Julia dreamed of being a stay-at-home mom and a “lady who lunches,” and she hoped one day to visit the Eiffel Tower. The color pink truly reflected her personality.
Survivors include her husband, Sean Skinner; her mother, Jamie Adams; her father, Douglas Barklage (Deanna); two brothers, Cole Barklage and Brody Barklage (Aly); and her paternal grandfather, Bobby Barklage.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, James and Anna Adams; and her paternal grandmother, Nancy Barklage, her “Nanny,” who was her favorite person in the world.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026, at Heckart Funeral Home.
A celebration of Julia’s life will be held at 12 noon Friday, January 16, 2026, at Heckart Funeral Home. Wear vibrant colors in honor of Julia.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home, Sedalia, Missouri.
