Juanita C. Herring

Juanita Claire Herring, 86, of Sedalia, passed away at home on Friday, May 28, 2021 from causes related to liver disease.

She was born March 4, 1935 in Northboro, IA to the late Robert Oren and Beulah Helen Brunk Brown.  Juanita graduated from South High School in Omaha NE in 1953.  She married the late Theodore M. Youngblood on June 1, 1952 and they had four children together.  On February 28, 1974, she married the late Frank H. Herring.  They lived together in Knob Noster before moving to Sedalia in 1997.

Juanita enjoyed reading, shopping, baking, and crafts of all sorts including sewing, cross-stitch and crochet.  After retirement, she became an avid golfer and participated in many Shriner Ladies tournaments.  Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her siblings, children, and grandchildren.

Juanita is survived by four children:  Lee M. Youngblood (Claudia) of Sedalia MO, Lynda C. Pottorff (Duke) of Ionia MO,  Michele Ranae Wittenburg (Bill) of Kihei, HI, and Michael D. Youngblood (Cleo) of St. Louis MO; three step-children:  Teresa Kelly (Mike) of Odessa TX, Karen Skidmore (Jimmy) of Greenwood MO and Steve Herring (Cathy) of Creola OH; 11 grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters: Helen Dunigan of Platte City MO and June Close of Liscomb IA; and a brother, Donald Brown of Maryville MO.

In addition to her parents, and husbands, Juanita was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, a sister Velda Gragg, and two grandchildren, Marcy Skidmore and Traci Herring.

Juanita requested no funeral service.  Inurnment will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Missouri Veterans Home of Warrensburg, or the Alzheimer’s Association, in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
