Joyce Marie Woolery, 71, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, at her home.
She was born February 9, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri, a daughter of Emmett and Regina (Kalwei) Cook. On March 1, 1975, in Sedalia, she married Keith Woolery, who survives of the home.
As a young girl, Joyce delivered newspapers in her neighborhood on her bicycle. She was the salutatorian of the 1973 graduating class of Sacred Heart High School. She later attended State Fair Community College, where she earned an associate degree in accounting. Joyce was employed at National Billing and Collections, where she worked for 24 years before retiring.
Joyce was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and attended St. Patrick Chapel, where she served as organist for many years.
She was devoted to her family and supported them in every way. She enjoyed taking walks and preparing meals for family gatherings.
Joyce faced the end of her life with peace, assuring her family that everything would be all right.
In addition to her husband, Keith, survivors include three children, Jennifer Alejo Woolery of Sedalia, Joe Woolery (Mary Jo) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Jacob Woolery of Kansas City, Missouri; two brothers, Darrell Cook (Beth) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Vernon Cook (Shawna) of Parkville; a sister-in-law, Julie Cook of Callahan, Florida; three grandchildren, Reina Carlos (Jesus), Kaleb Woolery, and Miguel Alejo; and one great-grandchild, Lorenzo Carlos.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Roger Cook.
Prayers of the Rosary will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2026, with visitation to follow until 4:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Chaepl of St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2026, at St. Patrick Chapel of St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
Pallbearers will be Toni Weise, Cindy Dick, Miguel Alejo, Kaleb Woolery, Jesus Carlos, and Daniel Alejo.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Sacred Heart Adopt-A-Student Fund in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
