José Guadalupe Lemus, de 86 años, residente de LaMonte, falleció el jueves 11 de septiembre de 2025 en el Hospital Universitario de Columbia.

Nació el 27 de marzo de 1939 en Michoacán, México, hijo de los difuntos Ángel Lemus y Florentina Lemus Martínez. El 2 de enero de 1975, contrajo matrimonio con Juliana Martínez, quien le sobrevive.

José fue un esposo, padre y abuelo devoto. Un verdadero hombre de familia, amó a su esposa durante 50 años y disfrutaba mucho jugando y cantando con sus nietos. Era un gran cariñoso con sus hijos y sus cónyuges, ofreciéndoles con fidelidad bendiciones para su seguridad y un descanso tranquilo.

Su fe fue fundamental en su vida. Asistía a la iglesia siempre que podía, leía la Biblia y oraba a diario. José tenía un carácter amable y gentil, y se llevaba bien con todos los que conocía. Amaba los momentos tranquilos al aire libre, especialmente viendo llover, de día o de noche. También disfrutaba cuidando su huerto, cultivando frutas y verduras.

Además de su esposa, Juliana, le sobreviven sus tres hijas, Angélica Lemus, Martina Lemus y María Guadalupe Lemus; dos hijos, José Lemus y Manuel Lemus; un hermano, Raúl; una hermana, Aurora; 22 nietos; y numerosos bisnietos.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres y un hermano, Jesús.

El velatorio se llevará a cabo de 17:00 a 19:00 h el miércoles 17 de septiembre de 2025 en la Funeraria Heckart.

La misa de entierro cristiano se celebrará a las 10:00 h el jueves 18 de septiembre de 2025 en la Parroquia de San Vicente de Paúl, Capilla de San Patricio.

El entierro se realizará posteriormente en el Cementerio Memorial Park.

Los servicios funerarios están a cargo de la Funeraria Heckart.



Jose Guadalupe Lemus, 86, of LaMonte, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025, at University Hospital in Columbia.

He was born March 27, 1939, in Michoacán, Mexico, son of the late Angel Lemus and Florentina Lemus Martinez. On January 2, 1975, he was united in marriage to Juliana Martinez, who survives.

Jose was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A true family man, he cherished his wife of 50 years and found great joy in playing and singing with his grandchildren. He was deeply caring toward his children and their spouses, faithfully offering them blessings for safety and peaceful rest.

His faith was central to his life. He attended church as often as possible and read his Bible and prayed daily. Jose had a kind and gentle nature, easily getting along with everyone he met. He loved quiet moments outdoors, especially watching the rain, day or night. He also enjoyed tending his garden, growing fruits and vegetables.

In addition to his wife, Juliana, he is survived by three daughters, Angelica Lemus, Martina Lemus, and Maria Guadalupe Lemus; two sons, Jose Lemus and Manuel Lemus; one brother, Raul; one sister, Aurora; 22 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jesus.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Heckart Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2025, at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, St. Patrick Chapel.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Heckart Funeral Home.
