Johnnie W Ennis, 91, of Sedalia, MO left this world on June 20th, to join his beautiful wife of 62 yrs Bernice, who preceded  him in death in 2018.

Johnnie was born on January 4, 1932 to Thomas Jefferson and Victoria (DeFabritis) Ennis of Evergreen, Alabama.  He spent two years in the Army, before becoming a member of the Air Force for 22 years, retiring with the rank of Tech Sergeant.  He then spent the next 37 years working for the Defense Department at Whiteman Air Force Base before retiring.  He spent an amazing 40+ years at Whiteman Air Force Base and was an integral member of the B2 Spirit team there.

He enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, gingersnaps, westerns and keeping busy.  He loved mowing the lawn and watching for wildlife at the lake house.  He was a kind and gentle soul with a stubborn streak.  His love for his family knew no limits.  He will be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by six children, Calvin Ennis (Roma), of Kansas City, Alvin Ennis (Mali), of Southington, CT, Johnnie Michael Ennis (Tamela), of Bethel, VT, Bryan Ennis (Brenda), of Chattanooga, TN, Shannon Ennis (Kristine), of Gimli, Manatoba, and Catherine Kugler (Ennis), of Kansas City; seventeen grandchildren, Aaron, Jenny, Tonya, Tasha, Andrew, Michael, Samuel, Brandon, Keegan, Benjamin, Barrett, Bailey, Stuart, Megan, Ella, Mara, and Ava; nine great-grandchildren, Henry, Alice, Eileen; Leopold, Nicholas, Woulter Don, Selina Donna, Ian and Norah.

The family will receive friends at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, MO on Thursday, June 29 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  A Catholic Burial Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, St. Patrick’s Chapel in Sedalia, MO on Friday, June 30 at 10:00 am officiated by Fr. Joseph S. Corel, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery in Sedalia immediately following the Mass.
