Lee's Summit

Joe Donald Anderson passed away on June 17, 2026, with family at his bedside. He was born in Sedalia, Missouri on August 6, 1932, to Harrison Zone and Myrtle Mae (Dickson) Anderson. Joe was the youngest of four children, his older brothers Harry, Robert and James Anderson are also from Sedalia. Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara. Joe is survived by his daughters, Vicky and Diana, grandchildren Arron Trowbridge and Jessica Laden, multiple great grandchildren; and even three great-great grandchildren.

Joe attended Smith-Cotton High School, worked at the Missouri Pacific railroad shops in Sedalia. Joe met and married Barbara Anne Meyer on August 31, 1951, and were married 72 years. Eventually Joe and wife Barbara moved to Kansas City and Joe worked for Bendix. Joe and Barbara raised two daughters in Raytown.

Joe was naturally mechanically talented. For years he helped people by fixing their cars or working on home repairs, ever the do-it-yourselfer. Joe loved fixing old boat motors, gardening, fishing, and rescuing what he called “curb orphan” mowers set out as trash. Joe would walk the mower home, overhaul it, and give it to someone who needed a mower that ran like new. He was quick to smile and quick to help. Heaven is brighter for his humor and kindness.
