James Cocozza, 74, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born September 28, 1951, in Alton, Illinois, the son of the late Louis and Mary (Eichorn) Cocozza. On July 25, 1987, in Sedalia, he married Marcia L. Alton, who survives of the home.
James was a 1969 graduate of Alton High School. He attended Central Missouri State University, now known as the University of Central Missouri, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business. He owned and operated Sedalia Auction Service and later sold items online under the name “The Auction Zone.”
He enjoyed collecting political buttons and spending time outdoors, especially at the creek. Family was important to him, and he took particular pride in his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Marcia, survivors include three sons, Joe Thurman, Trek Cocozza, and Jon Cocozza, all of Sedalia; a brother, Marc Cocozza; and eleven grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Cocozza.
James chose to donate his body to science.
