Heather R. Poynter

Heather Renee Poynter, 52, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022 at University Hospital in Columbia.

She was born March 1, 1970, in Sedalia, Missouri, daughter of Jamie Wise and Patricia (Meyer) Mitchell.

Heather was a 1988 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She was a long-time employee of Inter-State Studios where she currently worked in technical and representative support.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, scrapbooking, baking, listening to 80s rock and country music, talking with friends all across the country, driving, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to beaches and mountains.

Family was central to her life. She cared for her son with Cerebral Palsy, attended her kid’s sporting events, played, and FaceTimed with her grandchildren. She always looked forward to “Friday Night Date Night” which entailed a trip to the local WalMart with the girls, Brandyn and her grandson.

Survivors include her parents, Patricia and Mike Mitchell, of Acton, CA; her former husband, Clay Ulmont Poynter III, and their three children, Brandyn Poynter, of the home, Brittney Richards (Bobby, Jr.), of Salt Lake City, UT, and Bailey Poynter (Travis Perry), of Sedalia; five grandchildren, Chrislynn Richards, Jude Perry, Bryleigh Richards, River Richards and Sebastian Perry-Poynter; five siblings, Holly Kelley (Derek), Heidi Cobb (Ryan), Sam Pierce (Viviana), James Wise (Jessica) and Jon Wise; and six nieces and nephews, Makenna, Remington, Ruger, Ridge, Kaydence, Zoey and Emma.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jamie Wise.

A Celebration of Heather’s Life will be 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, December 27, 2022 in the upstairs of Fitter’s 5

Street Pub, 5

& Ohio in Sedalia.

Memorial contributions are suggested to E.W. Thompson State School in care of Heckart Funeral Home.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Heckart Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
