Gloria Marie Perriguey

Gloria “Marie” Perriguey, 95, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024.

Marie was born on January 4, 1929, in the small town of Ludell, KS. She was the second daughter of Frank and Edith (Moore) Reiter. When Marie was 12 years old her father bought a farm west of Green Ridge. She attended Hope Dale School her 7th and 8th grade years. She attended Green Ridge High School.

On August 3, 1946, she was united in marriage to Cecil A. Perriguey. To this union were born one daughter and two sons.

Marie and Cecil bought a farm west of Sedalia and lived there their entire married life. They went on to buy two more farms on which their children all built homes.

In 1966, Marie and Cecil opened a heating and air conditioning business in Sedalia, and Marie ran the office. Over the years she made many lifelong friends through the business. She was always eager to help in the business, which included doing all the tax work. 

Marie is survived by three children, Betty Plummer (Chester), Richard Perriguey (Naomi), and Terry Perriguey (Sharon), all of Sedalia; five grandchildren, Faron Plummer (Jennifer) and Clint Perriguey (Tara), both of Sedalia, Darin Plummer (Kristen), of Warrensburg, Ethan Perriguey (Jerrica), of LaMonte, and Tara Merriott (Clint), of Versailles; eight great-grandchildren, Cassandra Lumpe (Andrew), of Lee’s Summit, McKenzie and Toby Plummer, of Warrensburg, Cecil, Violet, and Novalena Perriguey, of La Monte, and Cecilia  and Ellis Merriott, of Versailles.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years; her parents; two sisters, Ollie Dillon and Winona Brownfield; and two brothers, Daniel Reiter and Robert Reiter.

Marie was a member of the LaMonte Christian Church where she spent many years teaching Sunday School.

Marie had many hobbies. She loved raising a large garden which she shared with everyone. She loved raising chickens and doing embroidery work, but her greatest pleasures were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the LaMonte Christian Church with Rev. Michael Wood officiating.

Pallbearers will be Faron Plummer, Clint Perriguey, Darin Plummer, Ethan Perriguey, Toby Plummer, and Clint Merriott.

Burial will be in the La Monte Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Show-Me Christian Youth Home or LaMonte Christian Church in care of Heckart Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Heckart Funeral Home.
