Glenda Mae Fluty, 82, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025, at E.W. Thompson Health and Rehab, after a long health battle.
She was born December 4, 1943, in Steele, Missouri, the daughter of Riley and Dora Mae (Hampton) Hayes.
On December 16, 1961, in Houstonia, she married John R. Fluty. They were blessed with two children, Joseph and Lisa.
Glenda was a 1961 graduate of Braggadocio High School. She worked as a clerk for JCPenney for 30 years. She took pride in her work and in caring for her home, her church, and the people in her life, particularly by keeping things clean and neat. She stayed active, enjoyed exercising, cooking, shopping, and gardening, and she loved her dog, Pappy. Above all, she treasured time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed collecting tea pots.
She was an active member of Camp Branch Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, helped in the nursery, and was involved in the women’s ministry.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, John, of the home; a son, Joseph Fluty (Joy), of Sedalia; a daughter, Lisa Cloud, of Green Ridge; four grandchildren, Evan Fluty, Hayden Cloud, Erin Cloud, and Logan Fluty; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeweline Trowbridge and Sandra Long; and a brother, Dennis Hayes.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Brent Cloud.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Heckart Funeral Home, where funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Rob Ayers will officiate.
Burial will follow in Houstonia Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Camp Branch Baptist Church.
