Garry Lee Brashear, Sr.

Garry Lee Brashear, Sr., born December 14, 1940, to Dorothy Less and Lewis Brashear in Jackson County, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025.

Leaving behind a sister Dorothy Jean Sawyers, a daughter Tammy Kiger of Indiana, 3 sons Bruce Brashear (Kim) of Tennessee, Brian Brashear (Donna) of Missouri, Garry Brashear Jr (Shari) of Missouri. Many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, as well as many Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Dorothy Brashear, his wife Mary Brashear, his sister Linda Lockart, 2 brothers, Robert “Bob” Brashear and Terry Brashear, Son-in-law Jack Kiger, 2 Daughters-in-law Venessa Brashear and Sue Brashear.

Garry worked full time for the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority for 39 years before retiring. He also worked part time as a police officer proudly serving Sugar Creek, Missouri for 21 years before retiring.

Garry loved the Lord and attended church as often as possible. He was the song leader for the Sugar Creek Church of God.

Garry was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Memorial service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev. Candace Fowler officiating.

Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
