Fred, age 84, passed away on April 12, 2023 at Sylvia Thompson Residence Center. He was born in Sedalia, MO on October 29, 1938 to Dan and Alice (Eakins) Doty. He was born at home and was a lifetime resident of Sedalia. Fred attended Broadway Elementary and Smith-Cotton High School, class of 1957.

He was united in marriage on April 8, 1989 to Barbara Jean (Czaja) Doty, who survives of the home. He is also survived by one son, James Kyle Doty, and stepchildren he loved as his own: Jeffrey (Binhita) Korwin, Fairfax Station, VA; Tracy Doty, St. Peters, MO; Melissa (Jeff) Walsh, Smithton, MO; grandchildren including Matthew Doty, Jon and Alyssa Doty and Nathan, Alex and Zachary Walsh. Fred is also survived by two nephews Brian and Barry (Diana) Doty.

Fred was employed in the moving business for over 50 years. Originally with his dad and brother at A-1 Mid-State Storage then later with his wife, Barbara at Doty’s Moving and Storage.

Fred was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Sedalia Country Club. He amassed seven holes-in-one in his golfing career and was Club champion twice. He loved to ride motorcycles in his younger years and traveling with his wife, family and friends in his later years. Fred had a kind heart and ready smile. He enjoyed people and seldom had a bad word to say about anyone.

He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Dan Doty Jr.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2023, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Chaplain Jeff Stegner officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
