Erin Rogers, a beloved daughter of God, wife, and mother, passed away on April 17, 2024 at 9:25pm. She died peacefully having received a goodnight kiss from each of her children, and surrounded by her family, listening to their prayers, the chanting of the Gloria, and whispered words of love and farewell.
Born Jan 22, 1987, Erin grew up in Sedalia, MO. She was a beautiful young woman devoted to God and a loving light to all around her. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Sedalia and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Studio Art. After college she worked as a college campus missionary with FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) for three years in Madison, WI. She then spent a year off discerning a call to religious life as a Carmelite sister. After discerning that this was not God's will for her, she moved to Colorado where she lived and worked for four years.
In May of 2017 she reconnected with Steve Rogers, a good friend and fellow FOCUS missionary. In October 2017 she accepted his proposal of marriage, and in April of 2018 they were wed. God blessed Erin to become the mother of three beautiful children before she was diagnosed with cancer in Nov 2022.
During her 18 month battle with cancer, as throughout her whole life, Erin was a light of God's grace to all around her. She was always reaching out to her friends, family, doctors, and nurses, inviting them into friendship, seeking to love others with the love of Christ, and sharing the joy of the Gospel with them. She continuously offered her tremendous sufferings courageously in union with Christ on the cross for the salvation of souls, and for the holy intentions of Mary.
Erin is survived by her husband Steve Rogers, children William (5), Brigitte (3), and Fulton (2), as well as her parents Bob and Jean Simon, sister and brother-in-law Emily and Chris Brown and grandmother Terressa Simon.
Services will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sedalia, MO: Prayers of the Rosary at 4pm Thursday April 25, with visitation to follow until 8pm; Funeral at 10am on Friday April 26. Burial in Botts Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Mary's Meals, one of Erin's favorite charities, at marysmeals.org, or in care of Heckart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 434, Sedalia, MO 65302.
