Elva Irene Davis

Elva Irene Davis, 90, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

She was born October 31, 1930 in Benton County, MO, a daughter of Ben Martin and Della Elizabeth (Sweargien) Brown. On July 8, 1949 in Warsaw, MO, she married Paul Watson Davis who preceded her in death on March 13, 1999.

Elva enjoyed reading her bible, gardening, baking, sewing, and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for being a person who never knew a stranger. Elva always accepted and opened her home to anyone she met. She always made sure they had a piece of cake or cup of coffee to enjoy while they were there.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Helphrey (Jerry) of Windsor, MO, Brenda Ardrey of Sedalia, MO; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Baldinger (Edward), Zachary Roetemeyer (Katie), and Michael Ardrey; eight great-grandchildren, Saarah, Mathew, Laura, Grace, and Hannah Baldinger, Lincoln, Duncan, and Corwin Roetemeyer.

In addition to both of her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by, one infant son, Leroy Davis; a grandson, Shawn Helphrey; siblings, Lawrence, Clarence, Roland, Otis, and Amos Brown, Ada Cross, Bessie Smith, Ethel Sickler, Hazel Inman, Freida Knox, Ruth Craig, and Tiny Brown.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. The family does ask anyone attending the visitation or funeral service for Elva to please wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Children’s Therapy Center or the American Heart Association.
