Effie E. Weirich
Effie E. (Mast) Weirich, born February 6, 1944 in Dundee, Ohio, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family on August 6, 2022, at the age of 78 years and 6 months.
Effie is survived by Joe, her husband of 54 years, and family. 4 daughters and 1 son, Sharon and Dan Zimmerman of Sterling, AK, Marilyn and Simon Yoder of Knob Noster, MO, Brenda and John Zehr of Cuba, MO, Janice and Ernie Zimmerman of Knob Noster, MO, Michael and Rachel Weirich of Butler, OH; 34 living grandchildren; 3 sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eli and Malinda (Miller) Mast, 1 still-born brother, one son, Philip, and one daughter, Crystal, and one granddaughter, Kassandra Weirich.
Effie was born and grew up in Dundee, Ohio where she lived with her parents. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized September 16, 1956 into the Zion Mennonite Church. She served Christ faithfully until her death.
On March 23, 1968 Effie married Joe Weirich and they began their life together in Holmes County, OH. Throughout their married life, they opened their home to many youth.
She was loved by all, especially her grandchildren, who looked forward to her gifts. Her hobbies were taking care of her flowerbeds, word games and scrapbooking, compiling photo albums of her grandchildren.
As a family, we will continue to remember and benefit from her example of faithfulness and service to God and fellow men. We know she would desire the salvation of each of our souls and that we be prepared to meet Him in Glory.
We are grateful for all the help and support we have felt from the La Monte Congregation, many friends and family, the medical professionals and others who blessed our mother’s life during her illness before death.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2022, at the La Monte Mennonite School.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the school.
Casket bearers will be Tyler Zimmerman, Tristan Zehr, Justin Zimmerman, Randy Zehr, Chad Zimmerman and Kevin Zimmerman.
Honorary bearers will be Ryan Zehr, Zachary Weirich and Alex Yoder.
Burial will be in the La Monte Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
