Douglas Lee Jones 74, of Smithton, MO, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born, October 13, 1949 in La Porte, IN, a son of Donald A. and Ethel M. (Wildt) Jones. On August 8, 2015 at Liberty Park in Sedalia he married Elizabeth Hoenshell who survives of the home.
Doug worked as a Die Cutter for a Graphic Packaging company for many years in La Porte, IN. While in Indiana he was a champion shooter and also competed in World Wide shooting contests. Doug was a current board member of the Sedalia Rod and Gun Club, where he enjoyed helping and cooking for many of their events. He loved spending time with his grandchildren teaching them how to play baseball, softball, and how to shoot.
In addition to his wife Elizabeth, survivors include two daughters, Alicia Wilson (Craig) of Sedalia, Nicole McNurlin of La Porte, IN; seven grandchildren, Cicily Wilson, Gabriel Arteaga, Joseph "JT" Wilkinson, Paris Wilson, Hannah Wilson, Adriana Arteaga, and Katelynn Wilkinson; one great-grandchild, Micah Webb, and one on the way, and a brother, Curtis Jones, of CO.
Doug was preceded in death by both of his parents; and a brother, Bruce Jones.
Private services for Doug will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sedalia Rod & Gun Club. Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.
