Donnie D. Brownfield

Oct 22, 1948 — May 5, 2026

Sedalia

Donnie Dean Brownfield, 77, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Boone Hospital Center following a period of declining health.

He was born October 22, 1948, in Sedalia, a son of Vernon and Edna (Paxton) Brownfield. On June 12, 1970, in Sedalia, he married Beverly “Sue” Wheeler, who survives of the home.

Donnie was a 1966 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School and attended State Fair Community College. He served six years in the National Guard as a cook. He was well known in the Sedalia area as a car salesman, working at Williams Woody Nissan and W-K Chevrolet, where he built lasting relationships and friendships over the years.

He was a member of First Christian Church. Donnie enjoyed fishing, following the Kansas City Chiefs, and spending time traveling—especially trips to the lake and to Branson. He was a longtime fan of Conway Twitty and had the privilege of meeting him once. He had an easy smile that people remembered, and he was always willing to lend a hand. He genuinely enjoyed being around others and made people feel welcome.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sue; a daughter, Stephanie Brown (Robert), of Sedalia; a granddaughter, Alexis Brownfield; and a grandson, Kyler Stanic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Jacqueline and Donna Sue; his twin brother, Ronnie; and two half-brothers, James Shull and Tommy Shull.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at Heckart Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed at https://together.oneroomstreaming.com/UHBCN8.

Honorary pallbearers will be George Thomlinson, Kyler Stanic, Chris Kilmer, and Kevin Rupp.
