Dixie S. Edwards

Dixie See Edwards, 86, of Otterville, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at E.W. Thompson Health & Rehab Center.

She was born July 3, 1939 in Lincoln, MO, daughter of the late Willard and Orpha (See) Owens. On December 28, 1980, she married Homer Dale Edwards who preceded her in death on July 29, 2025.

Dixie dedicated 32 years to teaching elementary school, shaping the lives of countless students with patience and care. She had a love for plants and reading, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and taking the occasional trip to the casino.

Survivors include two sons, Travis Hagedorn (Shannon) and Tony Hagedorn (Audrey), all of Sedalia; a stepson, Keith Edwards (Rebecca), of Portland, MO; a step-daughter-in-law, Christine Edwards; a sister, Kay Christian (Edgil); a brother Bruce Owens (Mary); grandchildren, Dylan McEwin (Morgan), Zack Bridges, Nick Hagedorn (Megan), Sam Hagedorn, Kendall Hagedorn, Nikki Harris (Will), Buddy Edwards, Jr., and Carman Seay (Justin), Lily Steinman and Adrienne Calvert (Blake); and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Buddy Edwards.

Visitation will begin at 5:30 pm Monday, September 29, 2025 with the funeral service to follow at 6:30 pm at Heckart Funeral Home.

Burial will be 11:30 am Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Shawnee Cemetery, Warsaw.
