David Allen "Gomer" White

David Allen “Gomer” White 77, of Cameron, MO, died Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

David was born on May 28, 1949, in Sedalia, MO, a son of John Thomas and Shirley Mae (Wiemholt) White. On March 20, 2025, in Maysville, MO, he married Joyce Carol Rehbock who survives of the home.

David devoted his working life to the trucking industry, spending many years behind the wheel before retiring in 2017 from hauling cars for the Auto Auction in Sedalia. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy and, as a young man, attended the Catholic Church in Sedalia.

David found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved riding motorcycles, reading Western novels, and spending time outdoors mowing the lawn. His greatest passion, however, was repairing lawn mower engines. His knowledge and willingness to help others earned him the nickname "The Lawn Mower Man" throughout the Sedalia community. Whether fixing an old mower or teaching someone how an engine worked, David was always eager to share his time and expertise. He became a father figure and mentor to many young people, patiently teaching them about small engines while instilling the value of hard work, problem-solving, and helping others.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; one daughter, Kristy Dawn White; one step-son, George Henry Rehbock (Sarah); six brothers, Pete White, Mike White, Jeff White, Dan White, Greg White and Kevin White; five step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by both of his parents.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia with full military honors provided by the Sedalia VFW Post 2591. There is no visitation scheduled. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Donor’s Choice.
