David L. Clevenger

David Leonard Clevenger, 77, of Windsor, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehab in Windsor.

He was born February 21, 1946, in Paris, MO, son of late Daniel Garrett and Betsy Louise (Chapman) Clevenger Allen. On May 29, 1969, in Columbia, he married Teresa Jean Bruce who preceded him in death on December 24, 2013.

David was raised and educated in Columbia, graduating from Hickman High School in 1964. He served his country honorably 1965-1967 in the US Navy during Vietnam.  He served on the USS Enterprise and was assigned to the 21

st

Attack Force which was associated with the US Marines. He primarily worked as an aircraft mechanic.

After leaving the service, he worked for MFA Oil for two years, then worked for GTE phone company until he retired in 1995.

He enjoyed model building and Civil War history.

Survivors include a son, Daniel Clevenger (Tosha), of Holden; a sister, Debbie Allen, of Columbia; a son in-law, Travis Pringle, of NC; Melissa Clevenger, who was like a daughter, of Windsor; three grandchildren, Danielle Stubblefield, Josh Pringle and Phillip Clevenger; one great-grandson, Adrian Stubblefield; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Pringle; and four sisters, Patsy, Linda, Janie and Dana.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Monday, May 8, 2023 at Heckart Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Tisch officiating.

Casket bearers will be Phillip Clevenger, William Bailey, Chris Bailey, Josh Pringle, Josh Jacobs and T.J. Forsee. Honorary bearers will be Dan Clevenger and Adrian Stubblefield.

Visitation will be 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home.

Burial will be 2:30 pm in Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Higbee with full military honors at graveside.
