David Joseph Calderon

February 6, 1958 — November 2, 2025

Sedalia

David Joseph Calderon, 67, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

He was born February 6, 1958, in Los Angeles, California, son of the late Erma Lopez. On January 10, 2009, in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was united in marriage to Amanda Patterson, who survives of the home.

David was born and raised in southern California and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1975 to 1978.

He was a lifelong sports fan who loved baseball and football, cheering faithfully for his favorite teams—the Dodgers, L.A. Rams, and UCLA Bruins. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially at the lake and camping with family and friends. Music was a big part of his life; he once worked as a DJ and loved attending outdoor concerts in the park.

David had a gentle spirit and a servant’s heart. He dedicated much of his life to helping others, both through his work as a certified nurse’s aide and in his current role as a driver at Primrose Retirement Community. He was also deeply involved in the recovery community, a proud member of AA since 1997, and helped others find their way through a sober living program he led in the late 1990s.

Above all, David loved his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and teaching them life skills that reflected his patience, kindness, and steady guidance. He valued a simple, meaningful life, never fancy or complicated, but rich in love and purpose.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michelle, David Jr., Dale, Dillon, Tiger, Mika, and Daniel; sisters, Susie and Dagmi; and grandchildren, Lilliana, Valentine, and one expected soon.

Interment will take place at a later date in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.
