David B. Gaspard

David Burgess Gaspard, 79, of Sedalia, MO, was reunited with his beloved wife in Heaven on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

He was born March 15, 1944, in Camp Lejeune, NC, son of the late Joseph Burgess Gaspard and Zora Alyce (Phillips) Gaspard.

On December 20, 1981, at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, FL, he was united in marriage to Camye Noël Callis. Together they shared twenty years until her passing on July 2, 2002. They were blessed with four sons.

For nearly five decades, David built a career as a well-known car salesman at several dealerships in Sedalia and Fort Lauderdale until his retirement in May 2021. He is remembered for sending handwritten birthday cards each year to thousands of customers, and he spoiled his children with fireworks after every big sales day. He was a selfless and dedicated worker, constantly devoted to providing the best life possible for his family.

David embodied a strong work ethic and was a role model for his children and grandchildren, motivating them to grow and excel in their educational and professional journeys. He exemplified perseverance and faith when confronted by adversity, loved unconditionally, and was immensely proud of the family he built.

Throughout his entire life David enjoyed golfing, fishing, and simply being outdoors. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Dolphins fan. As an active member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, he served as a deacon and sang in the chancel choir for many years. He was also a director of the local Jaycees organization. As a single father, David loved hosting Sunday night dinners for his family. As a grandfather, he enjoyed attending sporting events and celebrating educational accomplishments. He had an insatiable sweet tooth – his favorite food was chocolate ice cream.

Surviving are four sons, Devin (wife Andrea), of Sedalia; Graham (wife Brittney), of Sedalia; Logan of Kansas City; and Mason of Springfield; six grandchildren, Landon, Kinsley, Ashlynn, Addison, Lydia, and Bennett; sister Darlene Francis of Elwood, IN; father-in-law James Callis; brothers-in-law Mark Callis and Cliff Callis; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Diane Martin and his mother-in-law Cynthia Callis.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Broadway Presbyterian Church in Sedalia, with Rev. Rob Hughes officiating. The family will receive visitors from 12:00 p.m. until service time.

Interment of ashes in the family columbarium will be at a later date at High Point Cemetery, Hughesville.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Camye Noël Callis-Gaspard Memorial Heart Fund at the Bothwell Foundation, which hosts the annual Lub Dub Run/Walk in her name.
