Darren E. Stratton

Jan 2, 1961 — Aug 18, 2026

Sedalia, Missouri

Darren E. Stratton, 65, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born January 2, 1961, in Richmond, the son of the late Kenneth G. and June (Gorham) Stratton. On March 26, 2003, in Sedalia, he married Tammara Resa, who survives of the home.

Darren was a 1979 graduate of Richmond High School. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1983 to 1985 and also served in the Army National Guard from 1980 to 1986.

Following his military service, Darren owned and operated a construction company in the Lee’s Summit and Kansas City area. In 1991, he moved to Sedalia and began working for Home Heating and Air Conditioning, where he served as lead commercial installation for 22 years.

To say Darren was an avid golfer would be an understatement. He loved the game and enjoyed every opportunity to be on the course.

Darren especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Although he had one biological child, he took great pride in his large blended family and cherished the time he spent with all of his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Evan Stratton (Bethany), of Sedalia; two stepsons, Jeremiah Burks, of Sedalia, and Joshua Burks (Rebecca), of Smithton; a stepdaughter, Erica Brown, of Sedalia; one brother, Jefferson Stratton (Nicole), of Michigan; two half-brothers, Clinton Smitha and Wesley Stratton; 15 grandchildren, Veda Stratton, Stella Latimer, Trinity, Wyatt, Blake, Gabby, Adrianna, Kendall, Bradley and Keagan Burks, Shaun Sims, Alex Sims, Harmonie Brown, Nasan Brown and Orlando Briscoe; one great-grandson, Miles Sims; and two more great-grandchildren expected soon.

Graveside services will be held at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mid-Missouri Fisher House, Columbia, (midmofisherhouse.org) who provides free, temporary lodging for families of veterans receiving hospital care.
