Homer Dale Edwards, 87, of Otterville, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at EW Thompson Health and Rehab.
He was born January 15, 1938, in Edwards, son of Clyde Bennett and Golda Opal (Howard) Edwards.
Dale attended Globe School east of Lincoln as a child. He was a 1956 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School.
He joined the Army after the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, where he was a lineman telephone installer and repairman. He later served in the Reserves.
Dale became a Union iron worker in the St. Louis district, building bridges, hospitals, and power plants.
On December 28, 1980, in Sedalia, he married Dixie (Owens) Hagedorn.
He enjoyed family get-togethers, holidays, reunions, birthdays, and other special days. He supported his sons, Buddy and Keith, in their baseball and soccer, and looked forward to their visits on weekends. He enjoyed mowing the yard, driving his red truck, and trips to Kansas City with the cousins. He was proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Dixie, of the home; a son, Keith Edwards (Rebecca), of Portland, MO; two stepsons, Travis Hagedorn (Shannon) and Tony Hagedorn (Audrey), of Sedalia; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Buddy Joe Edwards; two brothers, Dee and Howard Lee; and five sisters, JoAnn, Jane, Mary Ruth, Imogene, and Juanita.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Heckart Funeral Home, where funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m.
Burial with military honors will be in Shawnee Cemetery in Warsaw.
