Clarence M. “Newt” Newton

Clarence Marion “Newt” Newton, 91, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023, at his home.

He was born November 15, 1931, in Boonville, son of Clarence Ervin and Doris Emma (Gensler) Newton.

On January 5, 1953, in Harrison, AR, he married Lillian Mae Monsees, who preceded him in death on October 18, 2014.

Clarence served in the United States Army in the Korean War. Over the years he was a farmer, a mechanic at Mike’s Auto, and worked in maintenance at Swift and Co. He was a member of the American Legion. Clarence enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, gardening, mushroom hunting, deer hunting, tractor pulling, reading, and watching tv.

Survivors include four children, Thomas Newton, and wife, Helen, of Blackwater, Cindy Newton, of Boonville, Mae Bruce, and husband Charlie, of Jefferson City, and Kay Newton, of Sedalia; six grandchildren, Christopher Newton, Katie Adcock, Jesse Zuniga, Xavier Zuniga, Mindy Hueste and Monique Caldwell; and nine great-grandchildren, Joclyne Newton, Michele Newton, Emily Kammerich, Noah Kammerich, Mattie Mae Adcock, Mia Zuniga, Max Zuniga, Samantha Laughlin, and Nolan Laughlin.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas H.C. “Peachie” Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Heckart Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time.

Casket bearers will be Christopher Newton, Xavier Zuniga, Jesse Zuniga, Kenny Zuniga, Tray Adcock and Daniel Kirchhoff.

Burial with military honors will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
