Chester L. “Chet” Myers, Jr., 75, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at his home.
He was born June 20, 1950, in Elk City, OK, son of Chester L. Myers Sr. and Lucille (Melton) Myers Kurtz.
On February 27, 1971, in Smithton, he was married to Kathie Eastep.
Chet owned and operated Myers Painting and Drywall from 1974 until his retirement in 2020. He was well known around the area for his quality work. He enjoyed playing Texas Hold ‘Em, golfing, and watching NASCAR. He was baptized at Parkview Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Kathie, of the home; a daughter, Tamela S. Myers, of Kansas City; stepsisters, Susan Morales and Sandy Raines; special friends, Barry Keele and Sharon Goodson; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Ed Kurtz; special aunt, Allene Shaw; sister, Phyllis Sessions; and brother, Paul Kurtz.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2026, at Heckart Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m.
Casket bearers will be Drake Keele, Nathan Wallace, George Winterer, Jeff Shaver, Ron Baisch, and Rick Howell.
Honorary bearers will be Donnie Brownfield, Matt Molosz, and Austin Kowalski.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
There will be a meal for family and friends following the burial at the Heckart Family Center.
Memorials are suggested to the Sedalia Animal Shelter.
