Charles Robert Boggs

Charles Robert Boggs, 90, of Otterville, MO, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Columbia, MO.

Charles was born on August 18, 1935, in St. Petersburg, Missouri, a son of James Elmer and Cora Mae (Boggs) Wilkerson. On September 18, 1964, in La Monte, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Sharon Huddleston. Together they shared many years of love, faithfulness, and treasured memories. Sharon survives at their home.

Charles proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army, with assignments in both Korea and Germany. He served with the 1st Battle Group, 7th Cavalry, APO 24, where he worked diligently and enthusiastically in the performance of his duties, making a significant contribution to the effectiveness of the S-4 logistical support of the famed "Garry Owen." His military service reflected the dedication, discipline, and strong work ethic that would remain evident throughout his life.

Following his military service, Charles built a successful career as a purchasing and supply agent, working for the Truman Dam project, Boeing, and the HC Smith Missile Sites. While he valued each chapter of his professional career, nothing brought him greater satisfaction than working his own cattle farm. Farming was more than an occupation—it was a way of life that allowed him to enjoy the land he loved while providing for his family.

Charles found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed tending his garden, spending quiet days fishing, searching the woods for mushrooms, and gathering around the card table for a spirited game of spades. He was a loyal fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals and looked forward to cheering on his favorite teams each season. Charles also loved traveling and making memories with those closest to him.

Survivors include his wife Sharon of 61 years; seven children, Robert “Bob” Boggs (Harriett) of Niangua, MO, Steve Boggs of Sedalia, MO, Deborah Martin (Robert) of Blackwater, MO, Jon Boggs of Sedalia, MO, Lisa McNeeley (Jeff) of Columbia, MO, Susan Sandbothe of Columbia, MO, and Lori Swope of Columbia, MO; one brother, Jerry Boggs (Janie) of Glasgow, MO; one sister, Dorothy Taylor of Boonville, MO; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren.

In addition to both of his parents he was preceded in death by three sons, Eddie, Buddy (Julia, surviving) and David Boggs; four brothers, James III, Frank, William, and Carl Boggs; three sisters, Ida Mae Boggs, Mary Lou Renfrow, and Elizabeth Robertson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the funeral home with burial to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
