Carolyn F. Speaker

November 13, 1941 — May 19, 2026

Sedalia

Carolyn F. Speaker, 84, of Sedalia, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Carolyn was born on November 13, 1941, in Pettis County, Missouri, a daughter of James and Marjorie (O’Bannon) Allen. On February 18, 1967, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Florence, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Jack C. Speaker. Together they shared many wonderful years of marriage until Jack preceded her in death on June 22, 2024.

Carolyn was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She found joy in the simple things in life and treasured the time she spent with those she loved most. Carolyn enjoyed working word searches, taking drives to look at Christmas lights, and making yearly trips to the Missouri State Fair with Jack, a tradition they both dearly loved. She also shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Phoebe.

Carolyn was known for her warm heart and generous spirit, especially in the kitchen. She loved cooking for her family, friends, and neighbors, and everyone knew she made the very best meatloaf. Nothing brought her more happiness than family gatherings, birthdays, holiday celebrations, and sitting around the table surrounded by the people she loved. One of her greatest joys was the annual girls’ trips to Branson with Tammy, Angie, Sara, and Ava, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Carolyn will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor, and friend whose kindness, hospitality, and love for family touched the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the traditions she created, the meals she lovingly prepared, and the countless moments shared with those she held dear.

Survivors include, two daughters, Angela Charles (Gary) of La Monte, MO, Tamara Crum of Hughesville, MO; one granddaughter, Sara Nicholson (Jared) of Lee’s Summit; and one great-granddaughter, Ava Nicholson.

In addition to both of her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by five brothers; three sisters; and one son-in-law Danny Crum.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.
