Bobby L. Asbury

Bobby Lee Asbury, 84, of Otterville, passed away Friday, January 3, 2020 at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, surrounded by his family.

He was born March 6, 1935 at the family home in Pleasant Green, one of five children of Earl Calvin and Mildred Marie (Shaw) Asbury.

Bob was a 1953 graduate of Pilot Grove High School.

On April 25, 1959 in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Patricia Mae (Watring) and together they had seven children.

Bob started out working for the family business, Asbury and Sons, which specialized in plastering. The business was currently named Exterior Wall Systems. His career spanned over sixty years, working up until the Friday before his passing.

He was a Christian man who was deeply dedicated to his family, working hard to provide for them. Bob had a kind, caring and gentle heart. He was quiet, but strong, and very loving. He was genuine, generous and would help anyone. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

Outside of work, he enjoyed old cars and his various collections.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Pat, of the home; six children, April Shapley (Chuck), of Sedalia, Theodore Asbury (Kelly), of Sedalia, Nathan Asbury (Michelle), of Keytesville, Dana North (Chad), of Sedalia, Tyler Asbury (Mandy), of High Point, and Todd Asbury (Mindy), of Sedalia; sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two sisters, Patsy Meyer and Bunny Scott, both of Boonville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Timothy Lee Asbury; brother, Don Asbury (Juanita); and sister, Ann Asbury.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Olive Branch Cemetery, northeast of Sedalia.

Casket bearers will be Josh Asbury, Adam Shapley, Nic Asbury, Lyndon North and Brady Asbury.

The family will receive friends at 5:30 p.m following the service at the First Baptist Church in Otterville.

In lieu of flowers, pray for the family and do an act of kindness.
